Standard logos and graphics are stored in Flash ROM on the printer, and can be printed at full speed with just a very few bytes. The way these printers work so quickly in POS scenarios by sending text and formatting control codes in ESC-POS. Each printer can only do one resolution, as it's the physical resolution of the thermal print head.ĬUPS doesn't work very well with these printers, as it sends everything as a fixed-height bitmap. There are two resolutions of Epson receipt printers: 180 dpi (~7.1 dot/mm) and 8 dot/mm. As long as it doesn't do anything too fancy, it might work. I don't know if this has a hope of working: groolot/epson-tm-t88v-driver: EPSON Thermal TM-T88V Printer Driver. However, a 30 year old trade secret can be pretty leaky … So official open source drivers don't really exist. Epson still consider their ~30 year old ESC-POS protocol as a trade secret, and good documentation about it can only be had under NDA. I know it will not work because I picked up an Epson TM-20 last year and that driver does nothing. Someone's going to come along and suggest the zj58/zj80 driver: this will not work. And copying PPD files alone does nothing: at best, it does harm. Those drivers from Epson won't work - they call themselves source, but they're x86 and x86_64 binary. ![]() RasPiOS Buster comes with a utility system-config-printer that might help? Where I get lost is when it asks me to choose a model I can't find the TM-m30. I have the printer directly hooked up via USB which you can see in addPrinter.jpg. I've included two jpegs "addPrinter.jpg" and linuxDrivers.jpg" to give more of an insight. Trying to understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm a noob when it comes to installing printer drivers.
